Malacañang on Wednesday approved the release of an additional P1,000 monthly for Social Security System (SSS) pensioners.

The Philippine Information Agency released a copy of a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea online.

“Upon representations made by SSS, and subject to existing laws, rules and regulations, please be informed that the One Thousand Peso increase in benefits of qualified SSS retirees, survivors and permanently disabled pensioners effective January 2017, has been approved,” Medialdea wrote.

SSS President Emmanuel Dooc confirmed the report.

“Yes, Malacañang has already approved it today,” he said in a text message to INQUIRER.net. “It will be retroactive starting January 2017.”

Dooc said the January differential will be released on March 3, the one for February on March 10 and the differential for March on March 17 this year. CDG
