LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Four workers were hurt when an old bridge being demolished here collapsed on Tuesday (Feb. 21).

Vivencio Conise, 57;  Kenneth Castro, 21; Roberto Llanillo, 38; and Bartolome Aqui, 48, were dismantling the steel trusses of the old San Jose Bridge when it fell apart. The bridge spans the Basing River in Barangay Baay here, and is being torn down because a new bridge has been constructed there.

The workers’ harnesses prevented their fall into the river. But a crane, which was on the bridge, also went down the river.

The victims were taken to the Lingayen District Hospital for treatment.  SFM
