House razed to ground in Lucena City fire

LUCENA CITY – A fire that lasted more than an hour burned down a house here in the city center on Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

Supt. Arturo Brual Jr., Lucena City police chief, said the fire destroyed the house owned by Manuel Tiu located at the corner of Leon Guinto and Granja streets in Barangay 8.

Police said no one was hurt during the fire that started around 3:05 p.m. and was put out at 4:15 p.m.

Local firemen successfully controlled the blaze from spreading to the nearby newly constructed building and of the adjacent branch of a local fast food chain.

The cause of fire and amount of destroyed properties are still being determined by the arson investigators from the Lucena fire department, according to the police.  SFM
