The University of Cebu Webmasters hope to end it all tonight with no less than the championship crown tucked in their trophy case.

But to do that, the Webmasters must first hurdle the Southwestern University Cobras in Game 3 of their best-of-5 Finals Series for the 2011 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) seniors basketball crown at the Cebu Coliseum.

The reigning champions have zoomed off to a 2-0 lead after thrilling, 87-84 and 91-84 win in the first two games of the series. However, SWU, led by their fiery coach, Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba, believes that the series is far from being over.

“We may be down, 2-0, but the series is not over yet. It’s not impossible to win three straight games especially since we have done it in the second round of the eliminations,” said Alcoseba, the mastermind behind the success of the commercial squad, M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos.

Alcoseba though, believes that they have to grow up on the floor and do it quick, or the the series will be over.

“Our immaturity in the finals showed during the first two games of the series. We had it already but we just could not close it out. Daghan defensive lapses in both games which we really have to improve on,” he added.

Alcoseba also mentioned that in order for them to win, they must limit the production of the other Webmasters aside from star center, Junemar Fajardo.

In Game 2, Brian Heruela, Robinson Mohamad and Luigi Bercede combined for 50 markers, which buoyed them to the victory. The Cobras must also do with the knee injury that was sustained by star wingman Eleazar Armecin, who managed a measly five points in the last game.

“Armecin is less than 100 percent but he will play. We will just have to make adjustments,” said Alcoseba.

In the juniors division, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and the University of the Visayas will battle it for the series lead after the Baby Lancers tied the series at 1-1 with a convincing, 81-56 win in Game 2.
