On Feb. 16, 1848, Gov. Narciso Claveria attacked the Samals at Balanguigui, Sulu, destroyed their camps and brought 350 prisoners to Manila. As a reward, he was given the title of “Count of Manila.” —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
