Kidapawan City hosts mass wedding for 350 couples on Valentine’s Day

KIDAPAWAN CITY—Some 350 couples who have been in live-in relationships for years now were officially married on Valentine’s Day, in a mass wedding sponsored by the city government.

Mayor Joseph Evangelista administered the civil wedding held at the city gymnasium around 8 a.m.

The women even wore wedding gowns while their partners were clothed in barong or suit. The city government also shouldered the cost of their wedding rings.

The couples marched on a red carpet—accompanied with instrumental love songs. There were also photographers who snapped their wedding photos.

Evangelista said many of the couples had been living together for more than 10 years already.

“We would like to legalize their status, which was why we conducted this mass wedding ceremony,” the mayor said. RAM
