CAUAYAN CITY — Police and rescue volunteers have been searching for a six-year-old boy and his nine-year-old sister who were swept away in the Cagayan River in Barangay (village) San Ignacio on Monday.

Mark and Rosita Manabat were playing near the riverbank when Mark fell into the riven and was swept by strong currents.

Rosita jumped in to rescue her brother and was also swept away by the river, said Supt. Ariel Quilang, Ilagan City police chief. CBB/rga
