4 drug couriers nabbed in Lucena City police checkpoint

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested four alleged drug couriers aboard a tricycle in a checkpoint here Friday, police said Saturday.

Supt. Arturo Brual Jr., Lucena police chief, said the suspects tricycle driver Robin Andrade, Rommel Llagas, Gilbert Ferrer and Janel Cautongan were nabbed during the conduct of a checkpoint in search of
a wanted person along eco-tourism road in Barangay (village) Isabang around 4:20 p.m.

Police said during routine verification on the identities of the suspects, the lawmen spotted several packets of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) that fell on the ground. Seized were a
total of 16 small packets of shabu weighing 30 grams worth P55,500 from the suspects.

According to a police intelligence officer, the illegal drugs were for distribution to drug users in the village.
