Two suspected assassins caught in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY—Two suspected members of a gun-for-hire group were arrested on Wednesday (Feb. 8) in Balungao town, Pangasinan province.

Romeo Pine and his brother Rolando were detained after policemen found guns and ammunition in their respective houses in Barangay San Aurelio 3 in Balungao during a 4:10 a.m. police raid.

Another brother, Ronnie Pine, was not at his house when the raiding team entered the premises, said Supt. Jackie Candelario, deputy director for operations of the provincial police office.

The policemen were armed with search warrants issued against the Pine brothers by Regional Trial Court Judge Rusty Naya of Branch 53, Candelario said.

He said the Pine brothers were also implicated in robberies along the Pangasinan-Nueva Ecija road.

The police recovered three .45 caliber pistols, two units of ammunition for the M203 (a grenade launcher), three rifle grenades, 13 bullets and three magazine assemblies for the .45 caliber firearms. CDG
