Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has ordered the dismissal of Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano, for allowing the operation of a parking terminal without the city council’s consent.
The Ombudsman held Soriano administratively liable after finding him guilty of grave misconduct and abuse of authority. He was also barred from public office and his retirement benefits forfeited.
The case arose from Soriano’s issuance in 2013 of a provisional permit for One Way Parking Terminal, Inc. to operate without the approval of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. —VINCE F. NONATO
