ACCIDENTAL FIRING
A barangay tanod of Sto. Niño, Cebu City, was accidentally shot in the back when his gun fell on the floor and went off.
Ricardo Pugoy was resting in an office chair in the radio room of the barangay hall when his .38 revolver tucked in his waist fell, according to Sto. Niño captain Pancho Ramirez.
Ramirez said the tanod owned the gun, which was unlicensed.
He said the gun was covered with a memorandum receipt and mission order issued by a government agency, which he refused to divulge./correspondents jhunnex napallacan, rhea ruth rossel
KOREANS ROBBED AT BEACH
A Korean and his girlfriend who went swimming in barangay Juban, Liloan town, complained that a man stole their clothes while the couple was in the water.
Yang Soo Kim, 31, and Sheryl Sabay, 21, said they shouted for help when they saw the man take their clothes from their rented cottage.
Police said other guests were alarmed and alerted a roving police team, which arrested the suspected thief.
A .38 revolver and two marijuana sticks were recovered from Jery Ayostes as well as the victims’ pants, blouse and jacket.
The 23-year-old man is now detained at the Liloan police station./correspondent norman mendoza
TAXI HOLDUP
A taxi driver was robbed by three unidentified youngsters in Mandaue City, past 2 a.m. yesterday.
Noli Fabianosa, 32, said he lost his day’s earnings of P2,200.
The three young men first asked Fabianosa to bring them to Cebu City after they boarded at barangay Tipolo.
Upon reaching barangay Subangdaku, one passenger declared a holdup. The three later got off and disappeared. /stc intern tweeny malinao
SNATCHER HITS JAPAN TOURIST
A Japanese tourist said he lost his sling bag to a snatcher while walking outside a mall in Fuente Osmeña Monday afternoon.
Police said Takashi Sato, 26, was taking photos with his digital camera when a young man grabbed his bag and camera, then ran off.
Sato said he lost 130,000 yen (P77,000), the camera, an Apple Ipod, and other valuables .
Sato described the snatcher as 18 to 22 years old and about 5 feet 5 inches tall with fair skin./correspondent rhea ruth rossel
