‘Lumad’ leader shot dead in Bukidnon

DAVAO CITY—A “Lumad” leader was reportedly shot dead by armed men in Quezon, Bukidnon on Friday.

The Iligan City-based Higala Sa Lumad Network said that Renato Anglao was attacked by at least three motorcycle-riding gunmen in Crossing Busco around 11 a.m.

“Anglao was aboard his motorcycle on his way back home with his wife and child after buying school supplies at the town center in Quezon, when another motorcycle with three unidentified men drove to their side and shot Anglao twice-one at the head and one at the chest,” the group said.

As of press time, the Quezon police have not responded to the Inquirer’s query on the incident.

“The three men, wearing bonnets over their heads, sped off right after the incident,” Higala sa Lumad Network said, adding that Anglao died on the spot.

Anglao was identified as a leader of Tindoga,  an organization of Manobo-Pulangion which is very vocal against the expansion of plantations in Bukidnon. RAM/rga
