Operatives from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) have rearrested a convict who escaped from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) last month.

The inmate, Manuel Paril, is considered the second most wanted man in Quezon Province. He was arrested at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Superlines Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City.

Paril was convicted of homicide and frustrated homicide. He was then released on parole but he was brought back to the NBP for violating his parole.

Last month, he was supposed to have completed his sentence when he escaped last Dec. 20. However, he has a pending two counts of rape cases in Gumaca in Quezon.

He escaped Bilibid by breaking an access door to the second floor of the administration building.

BuCor Chief Benjamin Delos Santos said Paril will be at NBP’s holding center and  he will be turned over to Gumaca, Quezon Regional Trial Court.
