OLONGAPO CITY — Unidentified assailants killed a man and his girlfriend as they slept inside their house early Monday morning (Jan. 30).
Winston Ballara, 40, and Annazel Legarto, 35, were shot dead at about 4 a.m. by four masked gunmen in Barangay (village) Sta. Rita here, said Senior Supt. Melchor Cabalza III, acting director of the Olongapo City Police Office.
The attackers left a placard on the victims’ bed that read, “Tulak ng droga, magnanakaw ng motor, holdaper, akyat-bahay, wag tularan (drug pusher, motorcycle thief, robber, burglar, do not emulate them),” Cabalza said.
Police recovered from the victims’ house four spent shells fired from a .45-handgun, two deformed slugs of unknown caliber, a slug fragment, and five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
Investigators said the couple was shot multiple times. The gunmen fled on board a motorcycle. SFM/rga
