5 transport groups not joining strike

/ 12:11 AM January 31, 2017

Five transport groups assured the public on Monday they would not be participating in next week’s strike to protest the government’s supposed jeepney phaseout plan.

Obet Martin, Pasang Masda president, said that they were against the transport strike announced by the Stop and Go Coalition last week, pointing out that it had “no basis” since the government had yet to finalize an order for the jeepney modernization program.

Apart from Pasang Masda, the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association, Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization, Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines, and Liga ng mga Tsuper at Operator sa Pilipinas said they would not be joining the strike. —Jovic Yee
