A TASK force was created last week to monitor quality control of Mandaue City’s slaughterhouse.
The task force headed by City Veterinarian Dr. Daisy Penetrante is composed of meat and sanitary inspectors and police.
Meat Inspector Crisaldo Abatol said the facilities of the abattoir or slaughterhouse located in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City is sanitized and functional.
The abattoir operates 24 hours seven days a week, with 70 butchers divided in three eight-hour shifts.
Abatol said the abattoir is 500 meters away from residential areas.
He said producers are required to send all hogs, cattle and chicken six hours before schedule to ensure their quality.
Producers are charged P3 per head of cattle, hog or chicken for storage.
Abatol said personnel undergo foot baths and other sanitation measures.
