Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Monday said President Rodrigo Duterte is set to appoint members of the commission that would aid Congress in crafting a new Constitution.

Alvarez made the statement in a radio interview with DZRH.
He said the President told him about the planned creation of the constitutional commission on the sidelines of the birthday bash of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
“Kagabi ay sinabi nga sa akin ng Pangulo iyon at within the week siguro, lalabas na yung mga appointment noong members ng Constitutional Commission kung saan sila yung mag-aaral at gagawa ng draft ng revised Constitution natin (Last night, the President told me about it and perhaps within the week, the appointments of the members of the Constitutional Commission will be released. They will study and make a draft of our revised Constitution),” Alvarez said.
Alvarez submitted the draft EO to the President for the creation of a commission to help Congress in overhauling the Constitution.
President Duterte has sought Congress’ help in revising the Charter to pave the way for a federal form of government.

Duterte last month signed Executive Order No 10 that seeks to create a consultative committee to review and propose amendments to the 1987 Constitution.
The EO seeks to create a committee whose 25 members would be appointed by the President. RAM
