Jan. 15, 1955

Sablayan Colony, also known as Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, was established.

The facility in Occidental Mindoro province, which spans  16,190 hectares, was built to decongest  New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Jan. 21, 1899

Emilio Aguinaldo promulgated the Malolos Constitution. A decree designating Jan. 23, 1899 as the inauguration date of the President was also issued.

The Davao Prison and Penal Farm, the first penal settlement in the Philippines, was established by virtue of Act No. 3732. The penal colony straddles the cities of Tagum and Panabo in Davao del Norte province.
