LUCENA CITY—Typhoon “Nina” (international name: Nock-ten) destroyed homes and farms in Quezon province last month, stopping many, especially children, from enjoying Christmas.

But a toy drive for children in typhoon-hit communities may bring back their smile. Initiated by Councilor Sunshine Abcede-Llaga, the drive would benefit about 400 children in San Andres town.

“Our kids [received] … new toys last Christmas and are now ready to share their old ones. It’s not yet late to give them a little cheer,” she said.

Donations of toys, books, school supplies and children’s clothes may be sent to Abcede Law Office on Edaño Street here until Jan. 25. These will be distributed to children in Barangay Camflora in San Andres on Jan. 28.  —DELFIN T. MALLARI JR.
