LUCENA CITY, Quezon– Police arrested a suspected drug pusher who yielded a hand grenade with his packets of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) after a car chase with lawmen, police said Wednesday.
Senior Sup. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, said the suspect, Claro Agbuya, 54, was collared by operatives from Sariaya town police station after close to one hour of car chase that ended in nearby San Juan town in Batangas province on Tuesday around 4:50 p.m.
The suspect yielded four small plastics of shabu weighing 1.11 grams worth P2,000. Police also recovered a hand grenade from the suspect.
Report said the lawmen initiated a buy-bust operation against Agbuya in Barangay (village) Sto. Cristo in Sariaya around 3:40 p.m.
But before the police made the move to collar the suspect, Agbuya managed to escape aboard his car towards San Juan.
A police patrol vehicle gave chase and accidentally hit a motorcycle and a tricycle before the suspect was finally cornered at the San Juan town center. Both drivers of the tricycle and the motorcycle only sustained minor injuries.
Agbuya is detained at Sariaya police jail.
