Aguirre orders NBI to go after killer of QC prosecutor

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to identify the killer of Quezon City prosecutor Noel Mingoa.

Mingoa was shot to death before dawn Wednesday in front of a restaurant on Commonwealth Avenue.

A witness was reported as saying that a man on board a black vehicle shot him at close range.

Aguirre said Mingoa was one of his associate lawyers in private practice prior to becoming a prosecutor.

“He was a very good man and a very competent litigator. I already asked the NBI to conduct an investigation and apprehend the perpetrator/s of this heinous crime,” Aguirre said.

Mingoa has been the second prosecutor killed since October 2016. Mati City Prosecutor Rolando Acido was shot to death outside Mati City Hall of Justice on Oct. 26.

Aguirre said there is always a possibility that it is a retaliation on the government’s fight against drugs and corruption. IDL
