6.9 magnitude earthquake hits near Sulu

DAVAO CITY – A magnitude 6.9 earthquake jolted the island of Mindanao on Monday afternoon.

The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake struck 199 kilometers south-southeast of Tabiauan in Sulu at around 2:13 p.m.

The earthquake had a depth of 622 kilometers.

There were no reports of damage and injuries as of posting.

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake is considered very strong.  SFM/rga
