The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Sunday temporarily suspended bus trips to Cebu due to bad weather caused by tropical depression “Auring.”
In an advisory, the LTFRB said RORO bus trips have been cancelled in the areas of Liloan (Santander), Toledo, Tabuelan, and Hagnaya (Bogo).
“Buses plying these routes are advised to stay at their respective terminals to provide their passengers ready access to food and personal amenities,” the advisory read.
“Bus operators are advised to attend to their passengers’ need,” it added.
As of 2 p.m., Cebu is under tropical cyclone Signal No. 1 together with 18 other areas in Visayas and Mindanao, namely Bohol, Siquijor, Negros Provinces, Southern Leyte, Guimaras, Southern part of Iloilo, Southern part of Antique, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Dinagat Province, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Camiguin, Northern Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, Northern and Lanao del Sur.
The LTFRB also advised bus operators in the following routes, where operations of affected ports were suspended, to suspend their operations: Lipata, Surigao, San Ricardo, Dumaguete, Larena, Tagbilaran, Nasipit, Dumanga, Liloan in Southern Leyte, Cagayan de Oro, Benomi, and Balingoan.
The LTFRB advised bus operators with routes plying Ormoc, Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental to wait for further announcements as it is getting more information from the Philippine Ports Authority.
Auring is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Sur between Sunday evening and early Monday morning. It will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday. JE/rga
