15 hurt in Quezon bus collision 

LUCENA CITY – 15 passengers were hurt after two buses collided along the Maharlika Highway in Calauag town in Quezon province on Tuesday evening, police said Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Michael Encio, Calauag police chief, said the accident that involved a Bicol-bound Pamar bus and a Manila-bound Daet Express happened in Barangay (village) Sumilang at about 8:40 p.m.

Police said the Pamar bus occupied the other lane and consequently collided with the oncoming Daet Express.

Encio said eight passengers from Daet Express and five from Pamar were hurt and rushed to a hospital in nearby Lopez town by rescuers led by a police patrol unit who was passing by at the accident site.

Police said the bus drivers, Gil de los Reyes of Daet Express and Michael Gardona of Pamar, were both seriously hurt.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. CBB
