MANILA, Philippines – National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Alan Purisima inspected security measures in Metro Manila cemeteries Monday, where more and more people trooped to pay their respects to their departed relatives ahead of All Saints’ Day.
Purisima told 990AM during an interview that roughly 800 police officers from each of the NCRPO’s five districts have been deployed to guard cemeteries.
He said that he was checking on the visibility of the policemen tasked to ensure the public’s safety.
The NCRPO chief added that there were no reported incidents so far and no intelligence reports about possible threats to security during All Saints’ Day.
Meanwhile, authorities towed several vehicles parked near the Manila North Cemetery as directed by Manila Police District officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Alex Gutierrez.
Media vehicles were also asked to park in areas allotted for them near the cemetery.
