Aid for ‘Nina’ victims sufficient, but donations welcome—NDRRMC

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday said that it will not issue an official call for donations, but people may donate to the families affected by the Typhoon Nina.

“Walang pang call for donation, sapat pa naman ang ating supply pero hindi naman natin pinipigilan ang ating mga kababayan na magbigay ng donasyon,” NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990.

(There are still no call for donations, we still have enough supply but we are not stopping our countrymen from giving donations to those affected.)

She said people may donate food, drinking water, and new clothes to affected families still staying in evacuation centers.

“Tuloy pa rin ang pagsisiguro na sapat ang pagkain, mga food packs, ready to eat food mula sa ating pamahalaan at bukod doon, ang lokal na pamahalaan ay may mga ikinakasa na programa, additional na maibibigay sa mga kababayan na mananatili sa evacuation centers ngayong magbabagong taon,” she said.

(We continue to ensure that there are enough food packs and ready-to-eat food from the government and aside from that, the local governments are also setting up some programs, additional aid that we can give to our countrymen who will remain in evacuation centers this coming new year.)

She said some families in the Bicol region have returned to their homes, but others are still staying in the evacuation centers due to the heavy damage sustained by their houses during the typhoon.

NDRRMC expects some families to return to the evacuation centers to seek shelter before the new year comes.

“Patuloy rin po ang pagkasa ng ating civil defense ng shelter materials para sa pagrepair ng mga kabahayan na nasira ng bagyo,” she added.

(Our civil defense office continues to provide shelter materials for the repair of homes affected by the typhoon.) CDG
