Man mauls lover
A 23-year- old woman was badly injured after she was mauled by her live-in partner in barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City, yesterday morning.
Hermie Gonato, a native of Leyte province, sustained bruises all over the body. The woman was rushed to the Mandaue City Hospital. She was later moved to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment due to a suspected fractured jaw.
The woman’s live-in partner, Reden Aviles, 38, was arrested by responding police.
Police said Aviles instructed Gonato to go to the market and buy food. The man gave his partner P1,000.
The couple lived in a boarding house where they have been staying since 2009.
The man, however, blew his top when the woman handed him P50 as change for the P1,000.
The man confronted the woman and started mauling her, said PO1 Girlee Nadera of the women’s desk of the Subangdaku police precinct.
Neighbors called the police to stop the mauling.
Boardmates rushed the woman to the hospital.
