LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon has spewed a 2-kilometer ash plume on Thursday afternoon.

Ariel Doctama, public information officer of the Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the phreatic or steam-driven eruption happened at around 2:40 p.m.

He said minimal ashfall affected Barangay (village) Bolos in Irosin town.

Lizpeth Nicolas, head of the Juban Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the ashfall also affected the barangays of Buraburan and Guruyan in Juban town.

Renard Garados, the Bulusan MMDRRM officer, said they observed greyish to dirty white plume issuing from the summit of the volcano but no villages were affected by the ashfall in Bulusan.

No evacuation has been reported as of press time.

Doctama said the PDRRMO has let MDRRMCs to decide when to evacuate people depending on the situation.  SFM
