Arriola, Casidsid collar titles in Triathlon Championship side event

DAUIS, Bohol –  Jesse Arriola Jr. and Loveleinell Casidsid ruled their respective divisions in yesterday’s oceanman, a side event of the 1st leg of the 3-leg Triathlon Team Championship Series at the Flushing Meadows Resort and Playgroud.

Arriola clinched the male open title unchallenged as he led the pack in all the four loops of the 200-meter swim and 400-meter run and crossed the finish line with a time of 22 minutes and 57 seconds.

Casidsid, on the other hand, continued her dominance in the female division with a time of 28:58.

The male 12 and under category was dominated by Donald Jack Gibb, who breasted the tape at 25:19. The distaff side had Dea Tsyna Saco as the only finisher with a time of 33:48.

FEATURED STORIES

Justin Chiongbian dominated the male 13-14 category with a time of 25:26.  In the male 15-19, John Paolo Lim was the lone finisher with a time of 29:12.

Adones Onez, who clocked 33:59, reigned supreme in the male 20-29 category.

The distaff side was topped by Katherine Rose Arriola with a time of 34:01.

Frederick Chiongbian, the father of Justin, was the lone finisher in the male 40-49 category. He finished the whole race with a time of 31:11.

The 1st leg of the 3-leg Triathlon Team Championship Series went without hitches and participants are looking forward to the 2nd leg in Siquijor slated Jan. 25 2012.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
