Drunken Marine nabbed in Taguig City for firing gun
A member of the Philippine Marine was arrested in Taguig City for illegal discharge of a firearm and possession of a hand grenade on Monday.
Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr., Southern Police District director, identified the suspect as Cpl. Lovelyson Cutas Larede who was assigned to the Marine headquarters in Taguig City.
The initial investigation said Larede appeared drunk when he fired his gun into the air at the entrance of the Philippine National Railways station in Bicutan.
Security guards tried to accost him but he threatened them and fled.
His path, however, was blocked by tricycle drivers who mauled him and took his gun.
Larede was let go but he later figured in an accident around midnight.
A hand grenade was found in his possession when he was brought to Taguig Pateros Hospital for treatment. —Erika Sauler
