LEGAZPI CITY—The damage to rice, vegetables and coconut in the province of Albay caused by Typhoon “Nina” (international name: Nock-ten) has reached P6.4 million based from the partial report of the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (Apsemo).
“Right now, our main priority is to determine the needs of those affected and to finalize the report on the damage caused and immediate submission of sectoral report for speedy recovery program,” Cedric Daep, Apsemo chief, said Tuesday.
The damage brought by flooding in the town of Libon made bringing assistance and damage assessment difficult for authorities.
Daep said Albay would have to rely on local resources while waiting for assistance from the national government.
During the onslaught of the typhoon, some Albay netizens called for help from authorities, asking to be rescued from their damaged residences.
Ligao City, Sto. Domingo, Libon and Malilipot have been reported to have problems with their water supply. RAM
