Several camps and outposts of the Philippine military were not spared the wrath of Typhoon “Nina” (international name Nock-Ten).
“Initial damage reports from the units of the 9th Infantry Division posted in some areas of Quezon Province and Bicol Region reported that eight patrol bases were severely damaged while 12 others were partially damaged by the typhoon,” Armed Forces of the Philippines Public Affairs Office chief Colonel Edgard Arevalo said on Monday.
The floating assets of the Philippine Navy, meanwhile, were kept safe.
“Report receive indicate that the 83rd Infantry Battalion headquarters in Camarines Sur and a company headquarters under the 22nd Infantry Battalion were totally damaged by the typhoon, although no casualties on government troops was recorded,” Arevalo said.
Nina battered mostly Southern Luzon at its peak. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday morning.
