Nearly 300 families homeless after fire hits Zamboanga barangay

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Almost 300 families were left homeless when a fire broke out in Barangay Camino Nuevo here on Christmas night.

Fire officials said one resident died while five others were injured in the conflagration.

Maria Socorro Rojas, city social welfare officer, said 285 families were displaced by the 8 p.m. fire.

Rojas said Rogelio Ubat died of cardiac arrest when he saw his house on fire.

City Fire Marshal Supt. Klint Cha placed at P2 million the damage to property. JE/rga
