Fisher electrocuted, 2 others hurt in Quezon

LUCENA CITY—A fisherman died of electrocution while two others were hurt when the victims stepped on live wires in Lopez town in Quezon province on Sunday.

Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, said victims Christopher Sanchez, Xandrex Albacide, 23, and Jaime Paulo Bajamonde, 14—all residents of Barangay (village) Sugod—were accidentally electrocuted by live wires lying on wet surface after a rainy day around 6:30 p.m.

Chief Insp. Romulo Albacea, Lopez police chief, said the three fishermen were walking home after securing their fishing boats before the arrival of typhoon “Nina” (international name: Nock-Ten). The electric wires were scattered in the watery area after their supporting wooden pole fell.

Sanchez died while being taken to Holy Rosary Hospital. Victims Albacide and Bajamonde were still being treated at the said hospital. RAM/rga
