TUGUEGARAO CITY – Government office janitor, Renato Beran, did not know he was belting out some Christmas carols for the last time.

A gunman shot and killed Beran, 46, as he caroled with glee outside a local shop on Saturday, Christmas Eve. The shop owner was raising his store door to allow Beran to sing carols when the gunman shot him in the head and chest with a .45-cal handgun. The motive of the attack was not immediately known.

Beran was a janitor at the Cagayan Valley office of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
