15-year-old boy arrested for social worker’s slay

ILOILO CITY-A 15-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly killings a   social worker at the  Department of Social Welfare and Development  in Western Visayas (DSWD-6) on Friday.
Jenrex admitted killing Ernesto Bacia, a native of Capiz by stabbing him thrice with an ice pick in the neck inside the victim’s rented room in the boarding house at  Barangay San  Pedro, Molo District past 3 a.m. on  Friday.
Jenrex, a  gang member, was identified based on his photo with the victim in Bacia’s wallet.
He claimed that the victim was drunk and forced him to have sex with Bacia.
“I was overcome by anger. He was drunk and he forced me to have sex with him,” Jenrex said in an interview by local media.
Bacia was assigned at the Comprehensive Program for Street Children of DSWD-6.
He was half naked wearing a pair of shorts and without any underwear, lying in a pool of blood inside his room on Friday. His  laptop was missing including his cellphone and P2,000 in cash which was withdrawn from an automatic teller machine  before the incident happened.
Rebecca Geamala, DSWD-6 director, expressed sadness over the incident, saying Bacia was a hard working employee.
“We leave it to the police authorities. We request everyone to refrain for making speculations on the incident,” Geamala said in a statement sent to local media.
She called on the authorities to give justice to the family of the victim.
