Cop, sis nabbed in Taguig drug sting

A police officer who earlier failed a drug test was arrested along with his sister in a buy-bust operation at their Taguig City residence on Wednesday night.

Taguig Police Station Anti-Illegal Drugs head, Chief Insp. Jerry Amindalan, identified the suspects as PO1 John Santos, 39, an officer reporting to Headquarters Support Service in Camp Crame, Quezon City; and his sibling Gloria, 45.

Case investigator SPO1 Ricky Ramos said an undercover agent was able to buy a sachet of suspected “shabu” worth P2,000 from Gloria inside the Santoses’ unit at MRB Compound, near C-5 Service Road in Barangay Ususan, around 8 p.m. Six more sachets of the drug were also recovered from Gloria’s pouch.

Ramos said the Santoses had been under surveillance for a year and were confirmed by neighbors to be peddling illegal drugs in their area.

PO1 Santos was earlier assigned at the Quezon City Police District’s Batasan station.

In July, the district director, Chief Supt. Guillermo Elleazar, named Santos as one of the four officers who tested positive in random drug tests conducted on QCPD personnel. —Dexter Cabalza
