A drug pusher whom the police claimed was also a thief was killed in a buy-bust operation in Pasig City on Monday.
A report to Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., Pasig police chief, said that Rommer Silva was gunned down in a shootout with members of the city’s Station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group in Rodriguez Compound, a known drug haven, around 2:30 a.m.
Yebra said that PO2 Jonathan Bueno, a member of the antinarcotics group led by Senior Insp. Diogenes Gaoaen, acted as a poseur buyer and bought P200 worth of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from Silva.
Bueno claimed that when he tried to arrest Silva after the transaction, the suspect took out a gun and shot him. He added that he managed to dodge the bullet and fired back, hitting Silva in the body.
Crime scene operatives recovered four cartridges, a .45-cal. Colt firearm and a sachet of shabu at the scene. Also found in Silva’s pocket was the P200 paid to him by the undercover policeman.
