Top businessmen pledge to invest in Sulu development

MANILA — The country’s top businessmen on Monday night pledged to bring in more resources and undertake development in Sulu in order to help bring progress and peace to the conflict-wracked area.

Among the businessmen who pledged to help are Manny Pangilinan, Ramon Ang, and Michael Tan, son of Lucio Tan.

They made their promises during at the Negosyo Para sa Kapayapaan Sa Sulu Christmas town hall meeting in Malacanang with President Duterte.

Pangilinan pledged to rehabilitate telecommunication facilities or cell sites in Sulu, and to provide hospital equipment as well as training for medical staff.

Ang committed to build a 50-megawatt coal fired power plant in Sulu, according to Agriculture Secretary Manny Pinol.

Tan is considering the idea of resuming flights to Sulu, according to Ginggay Hontiveros.  SFM
