LOS BAÑOS, Laguna — A 19-year-old youth died when he was trapped inside a burning house in San Pedro City in Laguna province on Sunday, reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Monday.

Fire Officer 2 Gran Caresosa of the BFP in San Pedro City said Julius Balon Templo, a factory worker, failed to get out of the single-story house in Barangay San Antonio when it caught fire at 8 a.m. yesterday.

Templo was alone watching over the house for its owners, who lived in another part of the city.

“The owners said Templo usually woke up late so he could probably be asleep when the fire broke out,” Caresosa said.

The house was razed and firefighters discovered the victim’s charred remains after the fire was put out.

Caresosa said at least P200,000 worth of property was lost in the fire. Investigators have yet to determine how the blaze started. CBB/rga
