DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur – Unidentified armed men stormed a concrete batching plant in Barangay Tres de Mayo here on Sunday and set afire several pieces of heavy equipment.

Lt. Col. Ronnie Felix Babac, commander of the Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion, said the perpetrators, armed with handguns, arrived at the batching plant of the Philmix Corp. around 7 p.m. and immediately seized the .38-service firearm of the security guard, identified as Nelson Lonangil.

Babac said the perpetrators immediately fled on foot after dousing one cement batching plant, a dump truck, two payloaders and a backhoe with gasoline and setting them on fire.

He said soldiers pursued but failed to catch up with the perpetrators.

The Digos City Police Office has started investigating the arson, which took place about two kilometers from the city proper.  SFM
