Light to moderate rain is expected over Luzon and Visayas due to the low pressure area (LPA) in the vicinity of Olongapo City in Zambales province, the weather bureau said.

In its 24-hour weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms would prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas, while Mindanao will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

Cloudy skies with light rain are also expected over the islands of Batanes and Calayan, Pagasa said.

The LPA was last plotted at 70 kilometers south of Subic in Olongapo as of 4 a.m. The Northeast monsoon is affecting extreme northern Luzon, it added.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast will prevail over Visayas and Mindanao with slight to moderate seas,” Pagasa said. CBB
