A security guard was hacked dead while in his post at a construction site in barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City, early morning yesterday.
William Morandarte of Ropisa Security Agency was found dead on top of a mobile crane with hack wounds in the neck, face and head.
Police later arrested Harazim Navarro, 20, a native of Toledo City, who admitted to the killing. Navarro was one of the construction workers in the site.
Police said after the discovery of the body, all construction workers were gathered for questioning.
Three workers were brought to the police station after admitting they had figured in an argument with Morandarte before the guard was killed.
It was at the Mandaue City Police Office where Navarro admitted the crime.
Navarro said a co-worker found P14,000 cash in a taxi cab.
Navarro said he got a share of the money.
Navarro said Morandarte got mad when he was not given a share.
He said that last Friday night, the guard, who was holding a gun told him: “Last na lang ka ha! Sa makauna lang.”
Navarro said he felt threatened and became restless after that encounter with the guard.
The construction worker admitted that around 2 a.m., he took a 20-inch bolo and attacked the security guard in his sleep./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
