Two immigration executives accused of extorting P50 million from Macau-based online gaming tycoon Jack Lam took a leave of absence to give way to the investigation ordered by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.
“We hope that our action will give your office or that of your authorized representation the free hand to conduct any investigation against us that you may deem fit,” Deputy Commissioners Atty. Al Argosino and Mike Robles said in their letter to Aguirre.

Their leave of absence will be for 30 days beginning on Monday, Dec. 12.
Argosino and Robles were ordered by Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente to explain allegations of extortion that appeared in the column of Ramon Tulfo which stated that two associate commissioners received P50 million from Lam in exchange for the release of 600 of the more than 1,300 Chinese nationals arrested inside Lam’s Fontana resort.
