GUAGUA, Pampanga – Four people were killed and four others were injured when a trailer truck fully loaded with bags of cement rammed into five vehicles that traversed the Betis portion of the Jose Abad Santos Avenue here on Friday.
The trailer truck overtook a vehicle and collided with a Toyota Vios, killing Regalado Saclo, 56 and a councilman of Barangay (village) Sta. Rita in Lubao town; his daughter-in-law Kathlene, 29; and his grandchild Xaiven Red Adrielle, 5, said Supt. Levi Hope Basilio, Guagua police chief.
Bystanders and motorists helped remove the bags of cement that fell on the car in order to retrieve the bodies.
The truck, with license plate number GUN891, came from the City San Fernando and was driven by Alexander Pineda, 59, who faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and damage to property and physical injuries, Basilio said.
The fourth fatality, who died at around 1 p.m. at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in the City of San Fernando was Richard Dayot, a non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Guagua police.
His Suzuki motorcycle was also struck on its way to a Christmas party in Camp Olivas in the City of San Fernando. His companions, NUPs Millet Tamayo and Riza Faith Narciso, were injured in the incident.
Two passengers of a tricycle, Jefran Mamaril, 32, and his son Alex Gil, 15, were likewise injured in the collision.
This was the second road incident that happened on the Pampanga segment of the avenue since Dec. 2 when a truck rammed 10 vehicles, killing a 16-year-old girl and injuring five others at the Sta. Cruz Bridge in Lubao town. JE/rga
