Laguna village chief shot dead

SAN PEDRO CITY – A village chief in San Pablo City in Laguna province was shot and killed by a lone gunman just as he arrived home on Thursday night, police said on Friday.

Proceso Manalo, 59, village chief of Sta. Veronica, died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in San Pablo City, a report from the Laguna provincial police office said.

Manalo had just arrived home from the village hall and was in his garage when the gunman approached him at 11:30 p.m.

The gunman fled on foot. CDG/rga
