Facing the Senate inquiry on the Nov. 5 killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., former police Gen. Vicente Loot on Monday described an intelligence report linking him to the illegal drug trade as illogical and fabricated by his enemies.

Loot, now mayor of Daanbantayan in Cebu province, told the Senate public order and dangerous drugs committee led by Sen. Panfilo Lacson that he did not know confessed bigtime drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, son of the late Albuera mayor, and Chief Insp. Leo Laraga.

“Kerwin’s statement has effectively established that we didn’t know each other ever since. He had no personal transactions [with me] either by phone or in person and that no jail visit ever happened in 2015,” Loot said.
