SANTIAGO CITY — Eight passengers, including the boat operator, were rescued when a boat capsized at the river near the submerged Tawi overflow bridge on Tuesday (Nov. 29) in Penablanca, Cagayan.

The passengers were on their way home in Lagom village when the boat sank, said Rogelio Sending, Cagayan provincial information officer.

The boat was overloaded with cargo such as fertilizer, seeds, feeds, and groceries, which may have caused the vessel to sink.
