ORMOC CITY—Cebu Pacific’s direct flights from Cebu province will bring in more tourists to this city, which can now be reached by land, sea and air, Mayor Richard Gomez said.
Gomez joined 55 passengers in Cebu Pacific’s maiden flight to Cebu on Saturday.
The airline’s 72-seat, twin-engine turboprop ATR 72-500 will fly four times a week from this city in Leyte province to Mactan Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu.
The Cebu-Ormoc-Cebu flight takes only 45 minutes and will be available every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Before the airline’s operation, travelers needed to spend four hours on a fastcraft to reach Ormoc from Cebu City.
Among the attractions in Ormoc City are its three lakes—Danao, Kasudsuran and Janagdan. —ROBERT DEJON AND CONNIE FERNANDEZ
