Two men riding in tandem gunned down the director of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Makati City and wounded his driver in an early morning ambush in Quezon City on Monday, radio reports said.

Radio dzMM identified the fatality as Jonas Amora, Revenue District Office 8 in Makati City. A friend, Biboy Vadilles, confirmed Amora’s identity, a dzMM report said.

Amora’s driver, Angelito Pineda, was wounded and rushed to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC).

An official of Barangay Escopa IV in Project 4, Quezon City, said two men on a motorcycle shot at a white Toyota Innova at the corner of Major Santos Dizon Street and Katipunan (C5) Avenue, across P. Tuazon Boulevard, at about 5 a.m.

The Innova with license plate EBZ-502 had just emerged from Major Santos Dizon Street from Barangay Industrial Valley, Marikina City, when the gunmen drove up to the right side of the car and opened fire.

Amora, who was in the front passenger seat of the car, was hit in the volley of about seven shots.

The incident was reportedly caught on the barangay’s CCTV. CBB
